Century MDF has increased pricing in tune to 3-5% effectively scheduled to be implemented after two weeks. The pricing change is being discussed and observed in Northern and Western regions markets aggressively. The company is implementing the pricing effective from 5th November onwards.
The MDF industry generally observes stiff competition in southern India due to the frequent flow of cheaper imports. Industry experts hope that southern markets will later follow the rising trend.
MDF prices have long been volatile due to supply chain issues and limited availability of timber which has marred the production of MDF. It is believed that other brands in the MDF space will soon follow the price increase move. It is to be noted that a few weeks back, All India MDF Manufacturers Association announced an advisory to increase prices following heavy pressure on margins. The market has been resistant to price increases but once brands implement the trend, the market will adopt it.
