MDF demand sees fast recovery

The demand of MDF has been picking very fast in India after the first phase of Unlock. Reports from different manufacturing establishments found that they have been receiving good orders from June. Experts say that the versatility in the usage of MDF has helped its demand. It must be noted that 40 percent MDF is also consumed by other sectors, than furniture—such as Gifts, Packaging, Shoes, Toys making Photo Frames, Black Boards, Slates, Jaalies, PU coating, Polishing, Deco Paints, Decoration, Card Boards, Decorative sheets, Doors Skin, etc, whereas rest are used for making furniture such as Beds, Dining table, Wardrobes, Shutters, Carcass, Study Table, etc.

As per reports, most of the Indian manufacturing establishments they have continuous manufacturing lines which needs lesser manpower to run, compared to plywood. Hence they have been successfully able to increase the capacity and have sufficient quantity to serve the market requirements. As per reports, the MDF manufacturing establishments can cross its 50 percent of manufacturing capacity in the month of June.

MDF producers are also taking the advantage of decrease in imports into India, and are catering to those demands as well. The initiation of safeguard duty investigation on import of thin MDF in India is also helping this sector to grow because many importers and users are seen to incline towards domestically produced MDF. The growing demand of High-Density Moisture Resistance Boards in the MDF category is also playing a booster for the MDF sector because it is successfully taking a share of the economical grade plywood market majorly for Kitchen shutters, Carcuss and Wardrobe. Experts see that the Indian MDF sector may reach 70 percent of its market compare to the Pre-COVID sale in July month.
