The organiser of the country's top woodworking trade fairs such as India Wood, Delhi Wood and Mumbai Wood - Nuremberg Messe has added another feather to its cap by acquiring Chennai - based India Mattresstech Expo (IME), the only mattress and upholstery technology fair. After change in hands it is being expected that the next expo will be 60 % bigger in the year 2020. IME was launched in Chennal in 2013. According to Mr Unni Tharakkan, Director of Unitech Expo, the Indian mattress and upholstery segment is growing at a rate of 8.5 % year - on - year.
Mr. Peter Ottman, CEO of Nuremberg Messe informed that IME will be held concurrent with IndiaWood 2020, from 27 February to 02 March. He said, “IME covers an important subsegment of the furniture industry and creates valuable synergies for exhibitors and visitors. IME complements and expands the exhibitor and visitor profile for India Wood. Compared to our last IME in 2018, I expect over 60% growth in exhibition area on 2020.”
